DPRD Chairman: Jakarta ASNs must Be Neutral in PilkadaHe added that the greening can also be run by developing gardens on top of buildings, especially in government and private buildings including educational facilities.
"We're supporting the vertical garden intensification in government and private buildings," he said, Wednesday (11/20).
Khoirudin added that Singapore can be an example of green open space development with limited land. Good spatial planning in Jakarta should increase the number of green open space.
Adding green open space, he continued, can provide benefits for the environment such as improving air quality, reducing pollution and potential flood, increasing groundwater absorption, and improving health and quality of life.
"Providing public space for Jakarta residents to play and interact is also important," he added.
According to him, the green open space area up to 2023 has reached 34,451,260 square meters or 5.35 percent of Jakarta area. Khoirudin appreciates several areas that already have green open space for more than 24 percent such as in East Jakarta and South Jakarta.
"I also suggest Jakarta Provincial Government to intensify collecting social and public facilities obligations from developers. Then it can turn into green open space," he explained.
